Carnival 2014 in San Pedro

It was a great day in San Pedro as the Carnival tradition started. Today was the first day of carnival  and The weather was quite enjoyable.  As we all know the tradition comparsas in San Pedro, we all do enjoy seeing the tradition. It started of very well and was enjoyable. From different colors to kids painting each other, running out and a-bout  from throwing eggs, to squeezing bottles, and catching those fresh faces. We advise any visitors in the island to be aware of painting is going on until Tuesday. At this time of the year, the creativities of each group attracts many  locally and touristic ally. As the groups prepared for this years thrilling experience today's event was excellent.

The event will continue tomorrow at 3p. Children and Adults come out to enjoy this event as the comparsas will continue the tradition. Tuesday at 3pm come enjoy the last day as the announcement of the comparsas competition winner. Music provided to you by Local DJ's at 10pm. Riena Del Carnaval 2014-15

The Show started as the five contestants came out with their gorgeous  dresses. While the audience where anxiously awaiting for the six lovely contestants the crowd slowly settled down. They  gave full attention up on stage. One-by-one the contestants came  out. Fashion style dresses to their eyes glimmer with the eyeliner. their lovely, a wind-bitten pink, Harmony looks from constant smiles.
As  each contestants made their way out to the stage mentioning their names, they kept the audience excited.  Mel Spain, Sherlette Belisle, Eleonor Rosado, Shelly Arceo, Zeina Alamilla and Edilma Aguilar. Their expression of irony in different ways, entertained the crowd. The irony captivated the audience and make them read-on.

As highlighting the show, at the beginning of the show they came out with their full length dresses. That began very entertaining. On this part they showcased their dress to compete with whose was the best and made their speech and a song. On their second presentation their sports wear presentation was Tennis, Fishing, Football.  Displaying their Sports wear; the five contestant couldn't be any fun. Each one came out dressed as their sports wear. Good One! Thirdly, having to show case their cultural style dressed to high school girl it was full of fun to see them competing. Last, they competed on the excellent favorite dresses yellow, white, purple, blue, gold, green/black. The crowd cheered for their favorite contestants throughout the show.

From the very great practice the show was awesome. Judging the entire presentation all where given  a crown and a flower bouquet. Second runner was given to Mel Spain and First place was given to Leonor Rosado.

Throughout the show, dances presentation was presented by Island Academy, Spanish singer, And last Local Hip-Hop Group presentation. It was fun watching the show and very unique to see everyone laughing and entertained.

Fruta Bomba in Corozal lay's off 95 workers

Last week as the Casino was closed for good and having 57 employees laid-off and 200 unemployed,  Today Fruta Bomba Limited, a Papaya producing business near San Joaquin  in Corozal  announced the laying of workers. It is known as one of the largest Papaya company in Belize. Over 95 workers had been dismissed from the plantation industry. The problem for the company not to continue is due to rain in December 2013.

As a decision was made, the workers where dismissed. Fruta Bomba Limited Industry lost a massive fifty percent due to last years rain. The only option they had made is to keep the remaining staff employed. This is a serious large number of unemployment for the Northern Part of Belize.

According to Gilberto Vivas, General Manager, Fruta Bomba Production was bad due to rain and it was noticeable. Having fifty percent food packers unsuccessful  it caused the agriculture to and effect change.  This made the days unsteadily. We will keep the remainder of the workers in order to survive.

According Brooks Tropical Company located in Florida owner of two companies in Belize Fruta Bomba and Belize Fruit Packers , states everything was done properly according to its Labor Laws. The workers where laid of in everything they deserved. The company will continue to run its plantation in Orange District. We will try to rehire according to the needs and the quantity in the future. If possible will be running to normal in 2015.

Three Hundred  and Ninety-Six workers where in the Fruta Bomba and To Hundred and Twenty- two in  where in the Food packers. Fruta Bomba has not yet confirmed the lost in the company. But, and average of close to a Million dollars were lost from damaged Papaya.

World Wildlife in Belize

The Belize Forest Department under the Ministry of Forestry, Fisheries and Sustainable Development is preparing to celebrate the first ever World Wildlife Day which will be held on March 3rd, 2014. The day is being set aside to celebrate a...nd to raise awareness on the importance of the world’s wild flora and fauna. On this day, efforts to show appreciation for and highlight the importance of our flora and fauna are encouraged.

Therefore, the Forest Department is inviting the general public to come join us here at the Forest Department Compound on Monday March 3rd 2014, to celebrate World Wildlife Day by witnessing a ceremonial Memorandum of Understanding signing at 11:00 am. Each rehabilitation partner will be showing casing their work and the Forest Department sees this as a practical way of engaging young Belizeans in being good stewards of the environment through active involvement in conservation activities.

Protecting the Jaguar in Belize

Belize Jaguar preserve are very protected to this wild animals in Belize. Its untouched sites in Belize, makes  this sites very unique to visit. By protecting among the environment and cultural glimpse view of the jaguar,  knowledgeable local pataneiro culture can be hired.

Cruise Ship in Belize gets the Go-Ahead plan development

Developer Michael Feinstein a Belizean businessman had received clearance by the authorities for a One Hundred Million dollars cruise destination island a 45 minutes ride near Belize City. Stake Bank eventually be able to dock six ships.  At this present time, it is 17 acres and will be filled at 32 acres linkage to the mainland by raised path. One pier could be extended to berth two more ships, and extra vessels could anchor and carry passengers to the island with a boat. Belize has a lot of things  that can handle and much more tourists that happens to produce.  Things can be done for the capacity  to four times as much.

15 private planes landed in San Pedro

On Friday February 21, 2014 15 private planes had landed in San Pedro. They where flying around town and residence were quite puzzled to see so many planes above flying at once. It is not quite strange for the Caribbean Flying adventure to fly around the Caribbean and round the world. As regular Flights are made in San Pedro witnesses thought some celebrity was coming in the island as all 15 private planes landed at once.

 

As Belize is being known for the popular sites and tourist attraction in Central  America, they came to spend the weekend in San Pedro Ambergris Caye. The people mentioned that they wanted to try something new and exciting. I would say our country is being known for its excellent services we have to offer. If you guys think of many private planes in San Pedro I wouldn't be surprised. I would say the last I saw so many planes was in 2005 six planes arrived in San Pedro. They were an organization by Air Journey.

Golden Casino in Free zone Shuts its door

 Over ten years of services in the northern part of Belize on February 21st 2014 the Golden Princess Casino at the Corozal Free Zone herbys announced that their doors where closed on Friday morning. Over 135 workers were released on Friday February 21st out of 60 where laid-off. The reason on this matter is because the place went bankruptcy. Workers stayed jobless and where sent home. As far as the truth by an employee it was mentioned that the casino had been in a big loss and  bankrupt.

In getting any information it is difficult to understand the full details of why it shut down. At this time business had slowed down and makes even hard for our neighboring for the flow of traffic. On visiting the website approximately two hundred works were employed. About two months ago, the imminent shut-down was rumored, but for some reason the management were able to hide any secret for their employees.

 On February 5th an emergency meeting was called along with House of representative to alter the four important bills. The meeting representation included Money Laundering and Terrorism (Prevention) (Amendment) Bill; the Financial Intelligence Unit (Amendment) Bill 2014; the Domestic Banks and Financial Institutions (Amendment) Bill, 2014 and the Companies (Amendment) Bill, 2014. Not likely, the resentment characteristics on the House of Meeting, while agreeing on the responsibility on the bills on the Opposition agreed on banking transparency legislations”  even if they weren't satisfied of the bills.

Where's the Beach?

Majority of the tourist are coming to see our fabulous beach in La Bonita San Pedro. They come to relax and here quietness in our island. Our community makes us famous for wonderful beach we have. People want to find areas  where they can swim or just avoid traffic by walking. the beach had its tide up or low and creates less beach or more beach. Since this construction had started it seems the beach will be gone. many residence use it to run, jog, and much more.  Since BC's had closed and construction has started on the beach, sea walls  are going up. The beach attracted But what do you think about this?  But, only is building this spot is building a seawall. Look down at banyan Bay. I went for a walk took photos of the seawalls construction. here are some few photo update since they had started.

B.D.F 36 Anniversary

Come join the fun this Saturday Feb 1st, 2014  to celebrate the 36th Anniversary of the Belize Defence Force from 9 a.m. until 6 p.m.. Its the BDF Annual Family day its gonna be fun. Fun games for the children will be available for them to enjoy. there will also be sky parachute at 10am and 2pm. Lots of give away for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place. BDF will be displaying lots of items like Military display, Mock Bottles, weapons Drill, and other display will be available. Food and Refreshments will be available. Belize in experience of paradise

Sugar cane has now began delivering

In the early morning of January 24, 2014 sugar cane has started in Corozal district, Belize. It must continue after an eight week delay crop for "bagasse" payment. Since September of last year the cane farmers has issued a payment of Baggasse. The management of BSI/ASR had presented 18 Branches to work on an agreement between the Government of Belize for wanting to provide payment of Baggasse Since January 8th 2014. Unfortunately, There is another problem which is the road.The final obstacle of the Stakeholders are experiencing the road conditions are not so good which are causing slow movement on delivering the crops to the factory. This is causing over a million dollars to recover because of the delay. The reason why the conditions of the road are in bad shape, is because of last year's rain. Since last week Monday the road has started to be repaired by the Government of Belize. Since it has commenced only only 30% was fixed and the other is not completed as yet.Vice Chairman of the Cane Farmers Association's Committee of Management, says that there's a budget to fix the roads but there's  not sufficient to complete all. Farmers were complaining and call the media that the roads are to bad to be accessed.

Alfredo Ortega - Vice-Chair, BSFCA's CoM says he that he wanted 90% of the road fixed but disappointed that the contract was made to many roads and the fund was depleted. Vice chair man thought

that they were fixing the road and his goal post is to move from a different location which made roads amount designated. 10% are for the farmers to have access to the road and the other will be filled with stones until it reaches 40% of the road to be fix and relocate to another area. The heavily load is kept there because its is unable to brought by the farmers on the sugar roads. In the areas where different spots which had the worst conditions are filled with rocks and dump in the potholes. In the amount budget by Government was about 2.5million dollars for only the repairs of the roads.

The continuation of crop season began at the Branch of San Narciso in the Corozal District. It was called for Orange Walk division to burn until Friday not Thursday. Cane farmers explains that all they can do is wait until the condition's stays better. 10,000 tones of cane was lost and approximately 10, 000 Dollars were in lost because of the delay of the crop season.

Elvin Penner Returns to House

Since the outrage of the passport scandal Elvin Penner returns in the house meeting which was held on Jan 22nd, 2014 in Belmopan. As everyone knows that his in the middle of every single  passport fugitive. His strike of three- meetings he missed out of six would make him disqualified out of the House. As he attended in yesterdays meeting he was the only far beyond 10 feet of his other representatives entering the in a furtive way. This scandals will not be forgotten and will not be left on a side. In the process of Nationality and Certificate the former minister delivered and incomplete documents which was required to issue the passport was not completed in in full document process.  

While Wong Hong sat in a jail in Taiwan, Penner made a process to required passport and certificate issued by him, providing  documents which made him fugitive in the country of Belize. Since September of 2013 after the scandal of passport, Penner's his office has since been shut down which was confirmed by  UDP Cayo Northeast Executive Committee Chairman Fermin Magana.  Penner was then removed from his government portfolio and still receives Seven Thousand per month, drives a fully maintained SUV government vehicle. As his action of showing that the immigration office is a joke by slapping his wrist on his side, the crowd was abacked.

“Yes, he is. Like so many other area representatives, like everybody, he receives a stipend and like so many others, he does have an office open…as far as I understand. That is something that he will have to account for, I supposed, to the Auditor General. We try to make the point that these funds are given to all of us as area representatives for specific purposes, but he is not the only one who is not using the money for the purposes for which they are given. But because of the practices that it is done by way of depositing monies in their accounts, it is pretty hard to be able to ensure that they open offices.” Said Dean Barrow.

Fermin Magana, Chairman, U.D.P. Cayo Northeast Executive Committee was at Belmopan because of other business that took him to Belmopan. His was not in support of Elvin Penner nor he has something against penner. Penner's name is being submitted to run for the area. Mister John August which is working along with Fermin Magana which they are work in separate roads.

Unfortunately, Ferman Magana has not received any confirmation that Penner has an open office at this time. But still receives payment from the government.
