"AJI TAPA" Restaurant in San Pedro, Belize

I will take you to an adventure very unique located 2.5 miles North in San Pedro. Aji Tapa Restaurant is located right on the beach. The entrance is a stone design on the roadside with a unique wood design looking like a pirate style. As you head inside on the west side, the jungle walk to the beach is very nice, to the great atmosphere this restaurant is very quiet  and you get to see iguana's on the property. This includes  Bella Vista Guest Homes, a four casita boutique resort located 2.5 miles north of San Pedro inside Aji Tapa premises. It has full equipped furniture, wifi, cable, air-conditioning and kitchen. The garden has a walk way very clean and maintained. 

Aji Tapa is a perfect venue for rehearsal dinners, working meetings, weddings and other intimate gatherings. The restaurant is open all day serving throughout the afternoon, with happy hour from 1p.m. to 4p.m. daily. Reservations are recommended due to limited seating, but walk-ins are always welcome.The food is amazing to try with a blend of Mediterranean and Caribbean cuisine – a mixture of Italian, Spanish and Argentinean flavors.

Bowen & Bowen explains the Shortage of Coke in Belize

For those who are a coke lover and some just drink it on a hot day, to the famous Beer "Belikin"  of Belize nothing can go wrong with it. The bad news, for several months the company is in a shortage of coke and an amount of usual quantities,  in the high quantity glass bottle is neither available and its several processing. 

Back in 2013 the stores noticed a sudden decrease on the amount of coke that were usually bought. The company is one of the largest in Belize, which was rumored that the company was being shut down. A press-Released was then issued on July 2nd of last year which the rumor was just a false concern. The main fact is that the company is going through an upgrading on their systems.

The company Bowen & Bowen Limited, that gain the franchise more than ten years ago which is now one of Belize's largest employer, in the recent upgrade to their plant in Ladyville which had led to a slow production.

According Christelle Wilson,  Under the legal counsel and public relations officer for Bowen & Bowen, mentioned that the glass versions of Coca-Cola, Fanta, Sprite, Belikin, Guinness and Lighthouse are effected as well as Crystal Water but their's not really a shortage on the list above. 

Their is a replacement to the company's older parts which was brought in a new equipment. Meanwhile only Coke, Fanta and Sprite are available in the plastic bottles and sufficient beer stored to last until June, where normal operations resume. Later this year the new upgrade of the plastic bottles will take place. 

Everyone are asked to drink beer responsibly.

Dennis Eiley Chopped Multiple times in Carmelita Village, Orange Walk

Orange Walk police report this morning at around 8:30a.m. a victim identified as Dennis Eiley owner of the Prestige Block Factory in Carmelita Village, while being at his workplace in the Block factory three men arrived asking for the owner Mr. Eiley. 

The three men attacked him, chopped him multiples times. Eiley is now hospitalized at the Northern Regional Hospital and is in stabled condition. 

Preceding Information suggest that Eiley was robbed $3,000 dollars, the proceeds of the sale of a horse which he had just sold.  Police Orange Walk are on the look out for three attackers. 

A view from Coco Beach Resort San Pedro, Belize

I had the opportunity to visit Coco Beach and the resort is absolutely lovely. The resort is just 3 miles up north and with its welcoming service's I am planning to go back soon. The entrance is very surprising as they have a water fountain inside the lobby.  

 The entrance from the Beachfront view is attractive to its green grass, to the sits which are facing towards the beach are very comfortable to sit on. The pool is very large you don't even know where to be. From the coconut view, to the fountain view, to the resort’s Cocoblanca restuarant serves excellent Italian food and is open daily for Lunch and Dinner. If you are a coffee lover, Coco Cafe is open until 12 midday and serves pastries and morning snacks. 

The restaurant inside has an open view kitchen to a New York style designed inside.If you want a get-away place to relax Coco Beach has it all,  to sit outside the bar under the shade to have a few drinks in the pool or just sit back relax and enjoy the day. 

The hotel has many activities to do besides being in the area, from an enjoyment of kayaks, bicycles and paddle boats, Mexico Rocks and snorkeling site is only 6 km from the premises. Below are some picture's I took when I was their  last week:

Missionary recent trip,shares skill Dentist in Belize

Three of the missionary Dentists from the US came to San Pedro, Belize to do a Dental Mission. It has been over 30 years of experience since they had graduated from dental school along with Dr. Mark they wanted to something very special.

Dr. Johnson established as much needed dental clinic to Holy Cross Anglican School in San Pedro Ambergris, Caye. The recent trip, Dr. Kristin Kenner along with her two friends packed their suitcases and traveled to Belize to do a Dental mission.

Dr. Kenner said. "Several of my classmates have gone down to this impoverished area to offer free dental treatment for the teachers and children of San Pedro.  It was a very humbling experience, helping these appreciative people of Belize.

The clinics were very primitive, to have most equipment ship to the United States. "Its was different than other clinics here but we did a well job done." Dr Johnson added.

 The job was to involve as much care as at first for the children. "We have available a number of services, focusing on preventive care that is beneficial to the kids their whole life.  Educating the children on brushing, flossing, and also how different foods impact the health of their teeth was done.  The children spoke English perfectly, so communication was not a barrier.

 The amount of decayed and abscessed teeth were abundant, so we had long days trying to fix as many teeth as we could.  The next time the clinic will be open will be in October. I hope to share my dental skills to the truly underserved in the future," Kenner concluded.

Western Ballaz Vs Belmopan Bandits Basketball play-off

The Western Ballaz travelled all the way down to Punta Gorda this weekend to play the Toledo Diplomats. They won in a close game, that even went into overtime, by two points, with the final score of 79 - 77. They are now in first place again, along with the Tiger Sharks. They host the Belmopan Bandits this Thursday, at 8:30pm.

2014 San Pedro Lagoon Eco Challenge

This year's winner of the 10th annual Lagoon Race Eco-Challenge, won by the First Team Coco Beach for winning the race. The event wishes a big thanks to the organizers which worked tireless on putting this event together this event year after year. Participants that came out Kayaking was awarded  in the various stages and those who braved to paddle on the heat and rough seas to race on the finish line.

On the first day it commence at the Lagoon side west of the island, where the Kayaker's gather in line for the count down. Travelling to the Lagona Cayo de frances brasilete area to San Juan, where they raced for first day.

Paddler's headed to the camp site where it was the challenging part, 1,000 feet to the beach and heading 1 mile south, where  Kayaker's camped for the first night in Basil Jones. Food, water and bathing supplies where provided at the camp site. On Sunday, at around  9.a.m the challenge part is where they paddled on the shallow water. The water was very rough and the participants had a beating on the way.

 At around 1.p.m. the race finished at the Central Park were fans gathered to watch the end of the race to cheer there team. It was Coco Beach which made it first. With more than 41 miles on paddling with rough water everyone still did a great job.

Hurricane Season 2014

Less than a month from now, Hurricane season will be on its high alert caution. This is the time when everyone is alerted for Hurricane's, preparation are made and other tips to how avoid danger for any strong Hurricane. The Hurricane season for this year is scheduled to commence from June 1st and ends on November 31st and for the Eastern Pacific hurricane season will commence on May 15th and also ends November 30th.

Last week Wednesday, it was almost early start when a low pressure about 640km South-Southeast of port of Manzanillo, Mexico took its duty, displacing thunderstorm on the northeast of the low surface. while a lack of located thunderstorm on the low surface it did not form, from an update in the weather satellite on May 8th. According to the weather report it had a 50% chance to form on Wednesday to Friday of last week .

It caused heavy rains along the Pacific coast and mud slide on the mountains and 130 people died. The storm lasted on the development satellite for two days from May 6th-8th which caught the attention to some weather reports. In 2014 named hurricane, 11 named storms (lasting average is 12), including five hurricanes, two of which are expected to achieve Category 3 status or stronger.

An update from the Government from south state of Guerrero (Mexico) said that on Wednesday the increase precautions was made, what got him more worried is the destruction  that was made back in September of 2013 by tropical Manuel and Ingrid,  that was combine and cause flooding and mudslide.

As it was assumed (not definite) to those Hurricanes that will manage to hit Belize will be July 22 by Dolly, on August 18th by Hanna, on September the 10th by Nana and October 5th by Sally.

Here are some tips to be prepared of a Hurricane season: If a Hurricane is to soon to becoming you most  always keep up-to-date with your weather report or radio station for hourly updates, never use any generator inside your house or outside in your garage,when in use of  exhaust fumes which contain carbon monoxid is a deadly substances if inhaled, do not use any wet appliance, use a portable generator outside in a dry area, ventilated area away from attached garages or air intakes to the house, gasoline could be ignited if left in the basement or in an attached garaged, plug individual appliances into the generator using heavy-duty outdoor-rated cords with a wire gauge adequate for the appliance load, do not use electrical appliances that have been wet. 

Here is your Hurricane MPH Hurricane development: 

1. HURRICANE: The storm has winds of more than 73 mph.
2. HURRICANE WATCH: Hurricane-force winds of more than 73 mph are possible within 36 hours.
3. HURRICANE WARNING: Hurricane-force winds are possible within 24 hours.
4. EYE: This is the hurricane’s roughly circular center area where the winds are comparatively lighter.
5. TROPICAL DEPRESSION:Has evidence of closed wind circulation around a center with sustained winds from 20 to 33 knots (23 to 38 mph).
6. TROPICAL STORM: Maximum sustained winds are from 34 to 63 knots (39 to 73 mph). The storm is named once it reaches tropical storm strength.
7. TROPICAL WAVE: A kink or bend in the normally straight flow of surface air in the tropics which forms a low pressure trough, or pressure boundary, and showers and thunderstorms. Can develop into a tropical cyclone, i.e., a hurricane.
8. LANDFALL: The place where the center of a storm intersects with land. Because the storm’s strongest winds are not in the center, an area can be greatly affected even if the storm doesn’t make landfall there.
9. ERROR CONE: This shows a broad path that a storm could take. Because of uncertainty in forecasting a storm’s path and strength, watches and warnings cover large areas of coastline. Those alerts mean anyone in a watch or warning area could be hit by a storm.
